Friday and Saturday
November 29th 2007 10:55
The first full month of Punters Daily comes to an end on Friday at Sandown.
Race 2 has only eight runners but has plenty of interest. Molexio from the Lee Freedman yard resumes here. He has only had three runs in his career, on debut he found the 1000m at Cranbourne too short but was only beaten 2.1 lengths.
He broke his maiden status at his second run when he beat the very talented Katherine Gold at level weights at Bendigo. The race was an abnormally strong maiden with the city winner Katherine Gold, group 2 placed Davcon, city placed Dr Schimmell and recent Mornington winner Novelist.
At his third run he finished fourth behind the city winner Pit Lane and Katherine Gold (with a 1.5 kilo weight swing in her favour). This field is nowhere near as strong as the form he showed in winter. Molexio can win
Saturday sees racing return to Moonee Valley. The rail is back in the true position which gives the backmarkers a chance if the pace is on.
The two year olds go around in the first over 1000m. Chamatry is a 1.6 million dollar filly by Redoute's Choice owned by Shiek Hamdan. Her breeding is immaculate. Redoute's Choice is a champion sire in Australia. Chamatry has European champion sire Sadler's Wells, American Champion sire Mr Prospector and the all time great influence of Northern Dancer all the way through her dam's side. A breeding buff could see why she would fetch 1.6 million in the sales ring. Can win on debut.
Bold Moment gets her chance to open her city wins account. Her two latest runs have been excellent behind Gamble Me and Pleasantsundaygirl. She will get back to midfield but there is plenty of pace in the race with speedsters Cockpit, Desireux and Lady Phoebe engaged. She is knocking on the door but deserves to break through. Back Bold Moment.
Largo Lad could not have been any more impressive than he was last start at Bendigo. He won by five lengths hard held over Validator who won last Friday night at the Valley. They meet on exactly the same terms on which Largo Lad beat him comfortably last time. On weights and measures Validator has no hope. Ausvetia raced on pace and won on a biased track last time out and would need to have improved. Hopefully we can get better than even money on course.
Hopefully we can odds in the black about Gallopin in Race 5, his formlines are top notch. He sat three wide for the entire race last start at Flemington and still won comfortably. This race is no harder and he should win again. Hopefully Danny O'Brien turns him out for a spell. Perhaps a Brisbane trip might be in the offing for him next year.
Good Punting
