Last chance before Christmas
December 20th 2007 12:00
Wednesday was about 2 metres away from being a massive on for Punters Daily followers. Three legs of the quaddie, including the two value legs, which paid 2,450 bucks, was frustrating. Especially when the third leg runs second as our only runner. I am still grumpy about it.
But, they don’t pay on nearly at the TAB so we need to get on with it. Friday is at the Valley. There is a heap of rain forecast for the weekend so wet track form will be to the fore.
To have a wager on Friday night we need Peter Moody to do the right thing for us. Race five sees With Apologies engaged, her run last start was first rate behind Code Black, she was never out of trouble in the run and still managed to finish the race off very well. There is no doubt she should have run a place at Caulfield. She steps up to 1500 metres in a much easier affair than what she faced last time and can win here. I don’t think the wet track is an issue and she can improve. The problem is that With Apologies is engaged at Sandown on Saturday. The Valley event is a bit more suitable for me and hopefully Peter Moody sees it my way.
At Sandown Hillside on Saturday, there is not a lot to get excited about. Race six looks a raffle on paper but I think Free the Robber may be a bit of value. Last time out, he did the right thing for Punters Daily at Terang. This time, back in town, he will be at pretty good odds. The race is over 1300 metres, which can be a bit of a difficult distance to judge for punters. Sometimes it is too far for out-and-out sprinters and too short for 1400 metre horses. Free the Robber has had nine goes at 1300m for six wins. He has three second placings to his credit from four tries on heavy tracks so conditions should be okay for him.
Spin Queen will be the last wager before Christmas. She has had five starts for four wins. She is undefeated on wet tracks. The only defeat she suffered was two starts back over 1100 metres. All of her wins have been over 1000 metres, she is back to that distance here and only meets a mediocre field and hopefully she can send us to Christmas festivities on a winning note.
The next time Punters Daily tips will be up will be for the Boxing Day meeting at Caulfield. The Christmas / New Year period is very busy for punters with metro meetings on all public holidays except Christmas Day where there is no racing at all (sadly!). So I would just like to wish all of the readers all the best for Christmas and thanks for reading and we will return after Christmas
TIP SUMMARY
Moonee Valley Friday - Race 5 no. 7 With Apologies
Sandown Hillside Saturday - Race 6 no.14 Free the Robber
Race 7 no.8 Spin Queen
Good Punting
