Raising cash for Christmas
December 18th 2007 10:47
What better way to kick off the Yuletide season than taking money off a multi billion dollar bohemiath to spend on Christmas cheer.
Tomorrow's racing at Sandown gives us the opportunity to pick up the money required to make Christmas just that little bit more fun.
The first race is as good a place as any to start with the David Hayes trained filly Seattle Lass. Seattle Lass beat the very handy Bold Moment at Moonee Valley last start over 1200m. There are no Bold Moments in this field and while rises a kilo in weight, she drops a fair way in class and will be very hard to beat.
Race three sees the Danny O'Brien trained Stratella engaged. She was a little slow out of the gates last start at Caulfield where she flashed home to just miss behind her undefeated stablemate Code Black. As per Seattle Lass she only rises a kilo and trainer Danny O'Brien can sleep pretty well knowing he has a top chance in this race.
We can kick off the daily double in race five with a confident wager on Barwon Express. His form in this preparation has been exemplary. He won at Werribee on the 31st of October then followed that up with two great efforts in much harder class. Two starts back ran an excellent fourth behind Spectacular Saint at Flemington, beating home the very impressive Caulfield winner Immortality. Last start Barwon Express sat three deep on the speed and only got run down late by the promising Soreadyforspring. He is racing in great heart and deserves to break through here.
I very rarely take running doubles but with the zero take-out the opportunity is there for some great value on the Victorian TAB. In race six, I thought Judgement Justified could improve on his last start fourth behind Stay All Day two weeks ago. He is bred along dour staying lines being by Yamanin Vital out of a Noble Bijou mare. Kangaroos supporters should get on Judgement Justified, he is owned by recently appointed board member and premiership coach Denis Pagan. He has had two runs back form a spell and can beat a fairly ordinary lot here.

Race 1 no.1 Seattle Lass

Race 6 no.4 Judgement Justified
