Relieving the Hump Day boredom
December 4th 2007 01:40
Wednesday, hump day , the middle of the week is probably the hardest day of the week to get through at work. There is a fair school of thought that says Monday is but if one has had a top weekend ,the happiness can continue until Monday night. Tuesday is good because punters can do their form for Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday are consumed with weekend thoughts so the time passes fine. Wednesday is stuck smack bang in the middle. It's too far away from the previous weekend and the memories are hazy and it's an eternity to the next weekend. You may ask why these sentiments are on a punting website, well thanks to those muppets who prepare the track at Werribee last week I had to endure a boring Wednesday afternoon with no racing. That is unforgivable. The Club says racing should be suspended indefinitely to repair the track. I say the track should be subdivided and houses built on it. It is a disgrace and should lose it's status as a TAB venue.
Now that's off my chest, let's get into some punting talk. We finished November with a small (1%) profit. November finished pretty poorly but I put that down to a transition between the good class horses of the Carnival to the lesser grade summer horses. It looks like the transition is complete now and we bounced back at Moonee Valley on Saturday with a 10% profit.
Sandown race on Wednesday. The first four are very average affairs and I will keep my money in my pocket until Race 5 where I think Dancin School is a very good chance. He led until the shadows of the post last start and fought strongly when second behind the talented Moonloushe. That was his third run back from a spell and he is now at his peak and ready to win. He won't be too far off the speed and should run well.
The other bet of the day is in the lucky last. I tipped Soreadyforspring last week at the abandoned Werribee meeting and have no reason to jump off him here. He will find Sandown a far more appealing course than the tighter Werribee track and this is an easier race than he would have faced at Werribee and should be very hard to hold out.
TIP SUMMARY
Sandown
Race 5 8 Dancin School
Race 7 2 Soreadyforspring
Good Punting
