Sale Cup day
October 27th 2007 13:02
After a very successful Cox Plate day for Early Crow followers, we have plenty of cash in our pockets to load up and go again at Sale on it's Cup day.
You will need to either get up before lunch or hurry home from church to get on the first race at the ungodly hour of 12.25pm. REMEMBER DAYLIGHT SAVING BEGINS TONIGHT, don't forget, it's very impotant for a punter to know.
In the first number 11 Bold Moment jumps off the formguide, trained by Danny O'Brien. She debuted with a second at Seymour. Bear in mind that it was a metro standard meeting that day, she ran into the Freedman trained Hawas who goes ok. She's drawn six and can take a good position. I think she will go close to starting favourite but will help to build a bank for the day.
In race 2 number 1 Arezzo creates interest. He is well bred (Xaar out of Shavano Miss). He has had nine previous attempts to break his maiden but has a consistent record, placing in four of those nine with two fourths. Three runs back he got within ten lengths of Miss Finland in the Australian Guineas (beaten 9.7 lengths). That is a pretty good effort for a Sale maiden. He won a trial on October 16 and appeals as a good chance here.
The Sale Cup is worth $120,000 but unfortunately has drawn a large but predominantly a talentless field. Number 6 Street Classic can win here, his run behind Pinnacles last start was pretty good, he finished on the hindquarters of Sonic Quest who bolted in at the Valley today. That was second-up and his form is very ordinary second-up in other preparations. With his nice draw (gate 6) he will get a good run from Mark Zahra. The main danger is Blitz 'em Riley who is going very well but has drawn somewhere out near the carpark.
Caulfield trainer John Moloney gets a chance to train a running double when Heresay steps out in race 8, he is racing very honestly and this is the easiest race he has been in for some time. He has drawn gate three which is a bonus but the clincher is his record at 1100m, he has had 4 goes for three wins and a second. His last two have been pretty good at a thousand metres and he should run well.
