The battle resumes
December 25th 2007 22:57
If you feel like I do today, you won't feel like doing anything at all. But racing resumes today after a one whole day hiatus. Let's not go into the merits of not racing Christmas Day - but it seems pretty discriminatory in this day and age that the only two days that we don't race in Victoria are Christian holidays. You can't probbaly tell by this that I didn't quite make it to church yesterday.
We race at Caulfield today in a meeting that has been on the program since Christ was a kid. The Christmas Stakes and the Lord Stakes are a viable alternative to the Boxing Day Test and is far superior to one of the stupidest events in Australian culture, the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. I would have to say that only Sydneysiders would find it interesting to watch a bunch of pretentious wankers argue over whose boat is bigger all the way to Hobart.
Anyway, you can probably see that I got out of the wrong side of bed this morning so I will get on with some punting, race 4 sees Perusen entered. He is getting on a bit in age but is racing in terriffic heart, he has been up while but is getting better with rises in distance. Two starts back he got home ok behind Gallopin who came out and won easily at Flemington next start. Last start, he chased home the very promising Redondo Beach at Flemington at level weights. He drops back from open class to 0-82 class which is a big drop and really gets his chance today.
In a previous post I did say that I will be watching Sydney racing but not betting but today I feel I must back a horse that I have been waiting to race for a long time. In race 4, The Lording Dragon makes his racetrack return, his first and only run was a ripper behind the very promising Kroner on a slow track. He got a mile back on that occasion and ran a brilliant last sectional to beat them all except a very promising galloper. This Danehill Dancer three year old colt has a huge future and can resume with a win here today.
TIP SUMMARY
Caulfield - Race 4 no.1 Perusen
Randwick (Kensington) Race 4 no.13 The Lording Dragon
Good Punting
